The AMBCQ recently hosted a formal dinner for a Malaysian business delegation who were visiting Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. The delegation was made up of our friends from MA Trade, En. Shaiful, the Malaysian Trade Commissioner from Sydney and his marketing officer Selina Lee, and 10 delegates whose businesses supply the building and construction industries.
Here in Brisbane the group were meeting with industry bodies, and also attending the HIA Renovate and Build Show at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
The areas covered by this delegation included:
1.
Malaysian-based
laminated wood products manufacturer and distributor
2.
Malaysian-based
mild steel and stainless steel manufacturer
3.
Malaysian-based
steel water tank and water storage solutions provider (one of the largest
suppliers of sectional water tanks in the world)
4.
Malaysian-based
solar panel manufacturer
5.
Malaysian-based
architectural services and glued-laminated timber (Glulam) supplier
6.
Malaysian-based
assembler of aluminium products for doors, windows etc
7.
WA-based
importer and wholesaler of timber products

We were very pleased to greet the delegation and host them under the marquee on a cool May evening. Dinner was a traditional Malaysian (Indian, Malay and Chinese) meal. We enjoyed n
asi briani, pulut kuning, chicken curry, beef rendang, and fish and vegetable curry. And for dessert there was fresh fruit and pulut hitam. The delegates were quite amazed the the pulut hitam was served with coconut cream, something traditional but not seen too often these days in Malaysia!
Thank you to the members who supported the event at short notice. It was a good opportunity to catch up with everyone and also to let our members and the delegates to mix and meet each other and exchange ideas and contacts.
