AMBCQ Casual Dinner and Drinks with Justin Howden, the Groove Train

Last night we put on a very last minute event for Mr Justin Howden, Immediate Past President AMBC National. Kiong had only put out notice at midnight Monday but we still had a good crowd of about 15 people at the Groove Train, at King George Square, overlooking Brisbane City Hall.  Despite it being quite a rainy night, we sat outside under the umbrellas - thank goodness they have very big umbrellas! We managed to stay pretty dry, and we still had a very enjoyable event - a great chance for us members to catch up and to enjoy a drink and a meal with each other and our guest.

This is a photo from the Groove Train's blog. See, it's a
nice venue.
Beside being the Immediate Past President of the Australia Malaysia Business Council nationally, Justin is also Chairman of the Royal Exchange Sydney, and Past President of the Australia Philippines Business Council.  So many of our members enjoyed having a chance to meet with him.  We also had the pleasure of hosting our good friends from the Australian Council for Europe (ACE) Mrs Elfi Massey-Valazza and Mr John Massey, President and Patron respectively.

It was a funny little coincidence that Brisbane City Council was sitting last night in their temporary offices just along Adelaide Street (Brisbane City Hall is still under renovation for the foreseeable future while they try to save the heritage listed building). So when it was dinner break, Councillors kept walking past, which gave us a chance to catch up with them all.  We saw Cr Steven Huang (Macgregor), Cr Peter Matic (Toowong), Cr Margaret de Wit (Pullenvale), Cr Amanda Cooper (Bracken Ridge), Cr Krista Adams (Wishart), Cr Shayne Sutton (Morningside), Cr Geraldine Knapp (The Gap), Cr Angela Owen Taylor (Parkinson), Cr Julian Simmonds (Walter-Taylor) and Cr Andrew Wines (Enoggera).
